The BML is divided up into 2 Conferences. The Eastern Conference plays every Wednesday Morning and the Western Conference plays every Thursday Afternoon.
The object each week is to accumulate as many points as possible. Players will be able to accumulate points based on their NET SCORE each hole.
- Eagle or better = 3 points
- Birdie = 2 points
- Par = 1 points
- Bogey = 0 points
- Double Bogey = -1 point
- Triple Bogey or worst = -2 points
All players will have handicaps based on their level of play. Handicaps will be used to determine NET SCORE.
EX. A bogey golfer generally refers to a player with a handicap of 18 for 18 holes. This means that this golfer would receive one stroke per hole to put him on par with someone who has a handicap of 0.
So if the bogey golfer shot a 5 on a PAR 4, then his NET SCORE would be 4 and would accumulate 1 point on that hole.
If the same golfer shot a 3 on a Par 3, then his NET SCORE would be 2 and would accumulate 2 points on the hole.
The top 8 players in each conference by the end of season play will advance to the first week of playoffs and will compete to become League Champion.
Playoffs will continue with the same format as season play. All players will start with 0 points and will try to accumulate as many points as possible throughout the round.
The top 4 players in each conference from week one of playoffs will then advance to the second week of playoffs.
In the second week of playoffs, all players will start with 0 points and will try to accumulate as many points as possible throughout the round.
The players who accumulated the most points by the end of week 2 will be crowned Conference Champions.
The winner of the Eastern Conference will then play against the winner of the Western Conference in an 18 hole match. The object is to accumulate as many points as possible over the entire 18 holes. The person with the most points will be crowned League Champion.
This match will take place before our League Banquet during the complimentary tee times for the league.
No golf aheads are allowed during playoffs. So make sure you can make these dates.
Those who did NOT make the top 8 in each conference will be put into Teams of 2 for Team Playoffs.
The format for Team Playoffs will be a 2 Man Best Ball based on NET score. This means, you each play your own ball and the lowest NET score will be your Team Score.
The winning team will be determined by their accumulative combined score over the 2 Play-Off Weeks.
The winning Team from the Eastern Conference will then play against the winning Team from the Western Conference in a18 hole match before the League Banquet.
This match will still be a 2 Man Best Ball based on NET Scores. The only difference is that it will be Match Play instead of Stroke Play. No Golf aheads will be allowed so make sure you are there on this date.
Each week there will be a mandatory “Toonie Draw” in which players from each conference must bring a toonie. The money collected will be used to form two pots. (one for each conference)
Each week a name from both conferences will be drawn and those players will win 50% of their respective pots.
The remaining 50% will be used to award the winners from each conference for the two weekly games.
Par 3's = Low GROSS
Add up the total amount of strokes taken on all the par 3's and the lowest gross score takes the cash! If two or more are tied, then the pot will continue into the following week with the lowest combined score of all players winning the pot! This will continue until a winner is determined.
Par 5's = Low NET
Add up the total amount of strokes taken on all the par 5's minus any handicap strokes you may get and the lowest net score takes the cash! If two or more are tied, then the pot will continue into the following week with the lowest combined score of all players winning the pot! This will continue until a winner is determined.
Ex. If the BML consisted of two 30 player conferences then each conference would have a total pot size of $60. That means each week, 50/50 winners would receive $30 each.
The remaining $30 would be split between each conferences winners of the weekly games. $15 would be awarded to the Par 3's = Low GROSS winners and $15 to the Par 5's = Low NET winners.
Note: Money will be held for individuals until the following week. Any unclaimed money will be put back into the pot.
The League Meeting will be held at the beginning of the year and will be used to explain how the league works and to answer any questions that players may have.
There is going to be complimentary golf after the meeting. Please note that only those who attend the meeting can take part in the golf afterwards.
League Field Day
The League Field Day will be held on a weekend at another golf course. Just like in past years, we will do a Ryder Cup type format in which we will see the Eastern Conference compete against the Western Conference.
League Fun Day
The League Fun Day will be played during normal league times and will be used to separate the first half of season play from the second half of season play.
Games and format will be decided either during the League Meeting or as this date approaches.
Year End Banquet:
The banquet will consist of complimentary golf and then dinner at the golf club with a presentation of awards. There will be 5 areas that will be awarded.
- League Champion
- Team Champions
- Low Gross Score for the Year
- Low Net Score for the Year
- Most Improved Player of the Year
